RADFORD DALE HP CABERNET FRANC

This wine marks the maiden vintage from our Organically-certified Estate in Elgin. “Higher Purpose” is a fitting name for this wine, encompassing both the varietal’s intrinsic qualities and the influence of its elevated vineyard location. It embodies a dedication to excellence and a commitment to crafting a wine that reaches new heights of flavour for this varietal in South Africa.

WINEMAKING
The grapes were all hand-picked early in the morning, loaded onto tractors andbrought into our Organic cellar. The bunches were then hand-fed over a sortingtable. Whole bunches were placed into clay Amphorae for 2 weeks, for carbonicmaceration. The bunches were then pressed in the basket press and the juice wasmoved to barrel to complete fermentation. The wine spent just under 12 monthsin a combination of 228L and 300L barrels, ranging from 3rdto 4thfill. Afterwhich it was assembled and bottled, in May 2022.
WINEMAKERS NOTES
The wine exhibits the delicate nature of this variety, with finesse and depth onlyattainable in cool climate conditions. On the nose, the wine reveals a charmingbouquet with prominent notes of bright and attractive dark fruit and notes ofviolets. The presence of wildflowers and fynbos, with a hint of stems, contributedistinctive aromatic elements. It offers a refined drinking experience thatcombines elegance and charm.
