James Suckling
A precise, lively and chiseled Fronsac showing strawberries, crushed raspberries and baking spices. Medium-bodied and refined, this has polished tannins and a velvety texture. It’s really agile with an elegant structure.

A rich and textured Fronsac, the 2022 Château La Vieille Cure is based on 78% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. It shows darker cherries, smoked tobacco, chocolate, and crushed stone, with a medium to full-bodied profile, wonderfully integrated tannins, and a great finish.

Decanter
Vanilla, blackcurrant, cherry, violet cedar and liquorice on the nose, fruity, floral and savoury. Juicy and lean at the same time, the high acidity gives a sharp, high toned tang while the fruit stays the right side of sour. Liquorice, cola and cedar spice edges the fruit quite prominently creating some angles and restricting some of the width right now but this is nicely weighted with a long length. Just a touch rustic and youthful still. Ageing 12-15 months, 40% new oak. Rolland & Associés consultants. Harvest 12-19 and 19-30 September. 3.45pH. Ageing 12-15 months in barrels, 40% new.
