Grape: Mencia with Garnacha and Sousón with vines ranging from five to 60 years old
Place: Ribeira Sacra, Spain
A lesser-known wine region with under-appreciated currently in the market. Typical aromas of Mencia: raspberries and blackberries with light notes of elderberry, rose petals, caraway and licorice. A beautiful wine a lovely balance of fruity, body, tannin and acidity – just right for food pairing! The finish has soft touches of tannin lingering on the complex finish.
Pairing: traditional fare of the region: roast cod and lentils, slow-roasted pork shoulder
