Fermented in a 235-liter oak barrel from François Frères, the 2018 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese “Holz” is the oaky twin of the stainless steel Stahl version, which is based on the same must. The wine is deep, very clear and elegant on the nose, less immediately fruity than the Stahl twin but with attractive smoky notes from the oak. Silky, round and elegant on the palate, with intense vanilla notes and 247 grams of residual sugar, this is a round and smooth TBA with great charm
