Stina is a leading winery situated on Croatia’s sunny Dalmatian Coast. Located on the island of Brac, the winery sits not too far from the Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape), one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It was created in 2009 by Jako Andabak who leased and revitalized a waterfront cellar in the resort town of Bol. When it came to naming his new winery, Jako looked to the island’s local stina stone, a favorite of local artists and sculptors. Altogether there are 50 hectares of vines planted mostly to distinct Croatian grape varieties. Some of the parcels are planted as high as 420 to 550 meters above sea level, spots where vines have never been seen. On the south side of the island Jako owns the 500 year old Stipancic convent and its accompanying grape vines. The vineyards here are terraced, impressively built into the steep terrain, having been farmed for centuries.
The Stina Pošip sources grapes from century-old amphitheater shaped vineyards that lap up over 2700 hours of annual sunshine. Fermentation is done in a combination of 90% stainless steel tanks and 20% barrique barrels and wooden vats. Yellow gold in colour with viscous texture, this aromatic white wine has primary notes of apricot, citrus fruits, and almonds. Refreshingly crisp, it’s a delightful pairing for fresh seafood.
