“Vino de parcelas singulares” – A wine from singular and special plots.
This wine is born from the union of grapes from two small plots planted on terraces near the Cabe River. These are
the oldest and most precious vineyards owned by Saíñas. Surrounded by forest and carefully cared for where the
vines are rooted and perfectly adapted to the natural environment.
A blend of 85% Mencía & 15% Blend (Garnacha Tintorera, Mouratón, Gran Negro, Brancellao y Merenzao) from
vines that are 80+ years old on 310-350m elevation. 2 different soils here: one very shallow sandy granitic and the
other compact clay with shale bedrock and very shallow. Grapes are hand harvested. Vinification in open tanks of
maximum 1000 liters with 80% whole grapes. Spontaneous fermentation and maceration between 25 and 30 days,
gentle manual pumping over daily. Spontaneous malolactic and aging in 100% used French oak barrels. Annual
production is 2,045 bottles.
This is the finest and most elegant expression of these traditional vineyards in Ribeira Sacra which are incredibly
difficult to cultivate. A truly stunning bottle of wine.
