PUERTO DEL MONTE MENCIA

The grapes for this wine were hand harvested from 45 year old vines. The undisputed star of Bierzo, Mencia mirrors the elegance of Pinot Noir and the spice of Syrah. 2-3 months in American and French oak barrels. Aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, cranberry, orange peel,leather & spice (2-3 months in American and French oak barrels), and mocha. Although fairly weighty on the palate, marked acidity and fine grained tannins add some lift to the tart red fruit flavors. The finish is long and herbaceous.

Pairings: Cecina croquetas (smoked cured beef), savoury stews, lean meats, charcuterie
