This cuvée is made from a blend of small plots of Chenin Blancs from 3 hillsides: the Coteau des Chénaies of Domaine de la Perrière, the Coteau des Chenanceaux of Domaine du Roncée and the Coteau de l’Olive, a plot planted in 2008 and harvested for the first time in 2010. While there are less than 200 hectares of Chenin vines for CHINON Blanc in the entire CHINON appellation, Chenin is an emblematic grape variety of the LOIRE VALLEY. An extraordinary grape variety that can be used to make all types of wines: from the driest to the great sweet wines, from still to the most sparkling, produced using the traditional method. Here in CHINON, it is only found in its still and “dry” version, meaning without residual sugar. A taut, precise expression, which allows in particular to consider, for the best vintages, to keep them for several generations! The most suitable terroirs are the clay-limestone hillsides.
