PHILIPPE LE HARDI BOURGOGNE ROUGE
Grape: Pinot Noir
Place: Burgundy, France
Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi (formerly Château de Santenay) was once the majestic stately home of the first Duke of Burgundy. This historic estate (built in the 9th, 12th and 16th centuries is one of Burgundy’s most prestigious working in a very natural way, they farm their 200+ acres.
This crisp-fruited wine has notes of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. Age brings in notes of underbrush, spicy tobacco notes and cocoa beans. The palate is rich, full-bodied, and chewy. In its youth, the tannins of this wine lend it a mineral firmness. Definitely age-worthy.
Pairings|: beef rib steaks, lamb shanks braised or in sauce, roast pork, poultry-based stews, mild, soft cheeses or aged versions.
