Gamay – France
A Beaujolais that draws from the traditional winemaking practices of the past. Low-intervention, natural yeasts and minimal sulphur express the true character of the fruit. Grown from 20 year old vines on a single vineyard, this youthful, medium-bodied and dark-fruited organic wine that is fruity but built with a Burgundian-esque balance well beyond its price point. Ripe cherries, strawberry, thyme and a hint of spice wrapped up in a beautiful concentration, complexity and balanced freshness.
Pairing: pate and terrines, brie/camembert, duck, Coq au vin, buttternut squash/sweet potato dishes
